The Austrian squad has announced significant changes for the 2026 Grand Prix year, moving up French driver Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding British teenager Arvid Lindblad his first Formula 1 seat.

Lindblad, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, is set to become the partner of New Zealander Liam Lawson at the junior outfit VCARB.

This reshuffling means Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat post a half-decade in F1.

Who is Arvid Lindblad?

Lindblad has been identified as a potential future star by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.

Regarding the team's junior academy, a senior Red Bull figure noted last year that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", highlighting his "pure speed".

Red Bull has had a plan since last year to prepare Lindblad for his likely Grand Prix bow in 2026, including appearances in Grand Prix practice at the British and Mexican races.

The rookie said it was a "dream come true", commenting: "Next season represents a big challenge, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm eager to collaborate with the team and rise to it. I am incredibly excited to get started."

He has won two races in F2 so far this season and is sixth in the standings ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Hadjar's Big Break

The Frenchman's debut season started in difficult fashion when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. However, since then, he has been one of the stand-out newcomers of the year.

His performances included an remarkable podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the championship.

The team principal said: "Hadjar has displayed impressive growth and proved to be a fast adapter. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can succeed alongside Max."

The promoted driver called it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "prepared".

Tsunoda's Exit

To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have opted for Lawson over Tsunoda.

The New Zealander started 2025 with the senior squad but was moved back after just two races. He has settled back in at the junior outfit with notable results, persuading Red Bull he deserves more time.

Tsunoda, meanwhile, has been ejected after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has scored a minor percentage of the team's constructors' championship.

These announcements confirm that there is also no spot on the Red Bull academy for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 for 2026.
