Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
